Basic Guitar Chords
Learning More Positions
Welcome to another basic guitar chords page where you will find two more positions on the neck to play each one of the basic chords found within the C major scale.
By learning some new positions you won't have to stay in the same open chords all the time.
If you haven't learned the basic chords that are found within the major scale, then you might want to check out the 1st page on Basic Guitar Chords before you move on to the positions below.
All of these chords will require you to use your first finger to bar the strings in order to play the chords properly.
Just lay your first finger across the strings that are indicated. Fret the remaining notes with your other fingers. Use your thumb on the back of the guitar neck to help your fingers in applying pressure to the guitar strings.
If you are having any trouble holding the bar, it may mean you need to develop a little more strength in your fingers. Just do your best at holding the notes down, making sure that each note is heard clearly.
In no time at all, you will have developed enough strength to be able to play these chords without any difficulty.
C major
D minor
E minor
F major
G major

B dim
Try replacing some of the open chords that you use in your progressions with some of these for a little more variety.
Remember that learning these basic chords helps lay the foundation to you becoming a great guitar player someday.
Hope you enjoyed this lesson.
