Developing Control In Your Right And Left Hands
Welcome to the guitar exercises page of Guitar Lessons Central. Here you will learn different exercises so you can properly warm up those fingers of yours before you start practicing.
Exercises have the great benefit of developing control and independence between the fingers on your left hand, improving your picking technique with the right hand, and developing synchronization between both hands.
It's a good idea to do exercises for 15 to 20 minutes before you begin practicing, it helps to loosen them up and gets the blood flowing in order to prevent any unnecessary injures. It's like doing stretches before you would start your workout at the gym, you should do the same for your fingers.

Index - 1 Middle - 2 Ring - 3 Pinky - 4
Down below you will find guitar exercises relating to each area that I will be covering.
If you can do exercises regularly everyday, for say 30 minutes a day, not including your regular warm-up exercises, in a few short months you will be seeing a drastic improvement in your playing ability. You will gain better control of both hands as well as strength in your left hand fingers. Trust me, if you really want to someday be a serious guitar player, it's a good idea to incorporate exercises into your practice schedule.
And always practice with a metronome!
Here they are....
Enjoy!
Warm Ups-warming up those fingers before some serious practice.
Picking Technique-developing good right hand picking skills.
